Twenty Years and Counting

It is fantastic to begin this term feeling refreshed from my summer break. One of the greatest benefits of being away is that it provides an opportunity to pause, think and gain a fresh perspective. My holiday this year gave me time to reflect and has left me extremely grateful for all we have seen here at King’s over the last twenty years. Suddenly, the daily and weekly pressures of leading the church faded for a while and I had the chance to see a wider landscape, a broader picture and maybe even a glimpse into the future. And just as I was considering how much God has done at King’s in the last two decades, news came in of 23 first-time commitments on the King’s Newday site this year – what a wonderful example of how different the church is now! Praise God!

When my leadership team first proposed the idea of marking twenty years of the Tibbert family being at King’s, I was fairly hesitant. However, on reflection I felt it would provide an excellent opportunity to celebrate all that God has done amongst us – a moment to look back and remember our journey as well as a chance to look forward and dream of how much more there is to come! Therefore, I would like to encourage you all to make a special effort to join us at one of our meetings on Sunday 13th September.

Before then we have the joy of Terry Virgo, founding father of Newfrontiers, joining us this Sunday evening. He kicks off the first of three visits to King’s this term, when he will be speaking on the subject of grace, one of his life messages. This is a real treat with which to start the new term.

I trust you have had a good summer. I am expectant of another fantastic church year together and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
