21 Days of Prayer
Happy New Year everyone.
I have been so encouraged by the start of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. I was aware of a surge of faith and enthusiasm across the church as we approached the start of 21 Days, but I have still been blown away by the numbers that have turned up. Since we started on Monday, the room has been packed each night, with standing room only at times! It is deeply moving to see hundreds of people seeking God night after night, and I want to commend all of you at King’s for making prayer a priority in the midst of busy lives.
As well as focussing on prayer this month we are also encouraging you to fast in some form during the 21 days. If this is something you are considering, please read these helpful guidelines about fasting. To be clear, we are not suggesting you undertake a full fast for three weeks, but you may want to commit to a partial fast, which is what I am doing - I eat breakfast, fast during the day, and don’t eat again until after the prayer meeting. Other people are fasting for just one day or from social media or tv. Above all, remember we are under grace not law!
If you missed my message on prayer on Sunday, I do encourage you to listen or watch online. And if you have yet to make a prayer evening, do come along tonight, when we will be gathering at our individual sites. To remind you, throughout these 21 Days we meet at the Catford site each evening from 7-8pm, except for Thursday evenings when we have site prayer meetings. Catford, Downham and Lee will meet at their normal venues, while Beckenham will be gathering at The Chancery, Bromley Road, BR3 5NP.
