Steve and Cindy Nicholson
It is a real joy to have Steve and Cindy Nicholson with us again this week. Steve is Senior Pastor of Evanston Vineyard in Chicago, a church he planted at the age of just 23. Steve and his wife Cindy come to us with much pastoral wisdom and prophetic insight, and their annual visits to us here at King’s are always helpful and significant. On this occasion they have been spending time with our senior staff as we grapple with the challenge of keeping King’s moving forward, as well as encouraging our elders and wives team and speaking to our key leaders.
Steve is uniquely positioned to give us excellent input: he leads a large, racially diverse church in the urban context of Chicago and also served on the national board of the USA Vineyard leadership team for many years. He is a veteran of the Vineyard movement, and I never grow tired of hearing his stories from the early days of John Wimber’s ministry. Recently I saw this short interview with Wimber describing his early days as a Christian and his longing to see the church “do the stuff” that Jesus did – it is well worth a minute of your life to watch. As I said on Sunday, I have a growing sense that a wave of power and gospel proclamation is about to break out among us.
Lastly, this coming Sunday we have the joy of baptisms across the church, with over 15 people testifying to the Lord Jesus in word and deed. I look forward to seeing you all there.
