Celebrations and Tributes
Last Saturday, three generations of the Tibbert family met in Bedford to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. My dad is quite a guy – a godly leader, loving father and wise mentor. Both my brother Martin and I are leading Newfrontiers churches and all the grandchildren are following God and serving faithfully – what a legacy! It was wonderful to have the opportunity to gather as family and tell my dad how much we appreciate him. One of the highlights of the afternoon was watching a video in which the grandchildren told ‘Poppa Brian’ what they love about him – a wonderfully moving, funny and fitting tribute. And to top the weekend off, Crystal Palace won the FA Cup semi-final and are on their way to Wembley!
On Sunday evening we said farewell to Pastor Robert Kwami, who is leaving the King’s pastoral team after seven years of faithful service. Robert joined the church in the days when we only had one meeting, so he has seen some major changes among us in the last decade. It was great to honour Robert and his family and give thanks for all he has done among us.
Lastly today, I would like to extend an invitation to all at King’s to join us on Wednesday 4th May, 7.45pm on the Catford site. As a part of our teaching series When the Spirit Comes, we will be gathering for worship, prayer and to receive from God. I always enjoy these evenings, when we have more time to pray and wait upon God and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
By the way, did I mention Palace are in the FA Cup final?
