The People of God
Well King’s, we approach the end of another week, our seventh week in lockdown. Like me, I am sure many of you are hoping for an easing of some of the restrictions after the weekend. There is no doubt that the last weeks have been hard at times, particularly for those affected directly by Covid-19, and we continue to pray for all those who have lost loved ones to this terrible illness. The loss of face-to-face connection with family and friends has also been costly. I know Deb and I are missing our grandson Isaac (and his parents of course!) and the moment rules are relaxed we will be knocking on their door.
While we are hopeful of some small changes soon, we know that it is likely to be some time before churches are permitted to gather in buildings again. But as I said last week, though our buildings may be empty right now, the church is very much alive – we have simply moved location! This was brought home in a powerful way last Sunday by the video the comms team had put together. Wasn’t it great to see so many faces from King’s and hear how people are doing? I enjoyed it so much, I thought I’d include it here for you to watch again.
Church has never been about buildings; church is the people. This video reminds us that even though we may not be able to see one another in person on Sundays, we as a church are present, active and continuing to love and serve God through the challenges of this time.
