Team Time
I seem to be travelling quite a lot at the moment. Two weeks ago, I wrote my blog from Washington, and this week, it comes from France! For the past decade or so, it has been our practice at King’s to take the senior staff away for a few days. It is one of my highlights of the year, and once again we are being brilliantly looked after by our hosts, Paul and Charlotte Braithwaite.
This is an important part of our church calendar, time for us to pray, hear from God, plan and discuss the future. But as well as a fairly intensive time of meetings, it is also a wonderful chance to spend time together as colleagues and build friendship. We start each day with prayer and work until 1.30. We then enjoy a leisurely lunch followed by some free time in the afternoon, gathering again for another meeting before dinner at 8.00.
This year we have been looking at some of the key challenges facing us as a church at the moment. We will be launching our fourth site in October and have spent time considering some of the foundational reasons for becoming a multi-site church seven years ago. We have also been discussing the likely impact of moving from a church of three sites to a church of four.
We return home on Thursday evening to prepare for another great Sunday ahead. Andrew Wilson will be speaking as we launch our new teaching series, Exodus. It promises to be a very interesting series and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
