Transformed Lives
I love to hear personal stories of lives that have been impacted by Jesus. One of the most moving moments in the last week was listening to Janett’s video testimony. Janett’s story is one of a life radically transformed, of being brought back to God from her lowest point and realising that, “If I don’t have God, I don’t have life.”
Then as I was taking the train home from St Pancras last Wednesday I met Destiny and Angel, two sisters who both attend King’s. It is remarkable how often I meet people from King’s amongst the crowds of our city! We discussed Alpha among other things and on Thursday evening I was delighted to be able to greet them briefly as they started the course.
At our staff prayer meeting this week I sat back and listened to story after story of more and more people connecting to God and his church here at King’s. In these last weeks we have seen more people on Alpha and New Life than in recent months, more coming to our Wednesday night Feast than ever before, numbers increasing at our Friday night youth, the highest ever attendance at Rainbow Rhymes and the exciting launch of Rainbow Rhymes at Lee this week. Wow! And as if that was not encouraging enough, we had our biggest ever normal Sunday over all three sites – it was a special moment!
We understandably get excited by numerical growth but it is important to remember that behind the numbers are personal stories of people on their own journeys towards knowing God. Individual journeys and individual lives transformed – that is the power of the gospel!
