Follow Me
‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’ Mark 8:34
It was good to be back at King’s on Sunday, preaching the concluding part in our 'Follow Me' series. I have greatly enjoyed all the sermons over the last weeks and have been encouraged by the positive feedback received. As I had hoped, it has proved to be a thought-provoking and challenging run of messages. If you were unable to be there on Sunday morning, you can listen online or via our church app. It is my personal conviction that this has been a very important series for us as a church, for the following reasons:
1. It has allowed us to consider how we can make Jesus central in our lives
2. It lays a foundation for our discipleship
3. We have covered key discipleship issues
4. Through the series we have expressed our approach to church life here at King's
The key principle behind this last point is that at King’s we aim to take people on a journey, accepting them at their own starting point and inviting them to come on a journey of discovery.
It is with this in mind that I am so excited about our upcoming carol services. These provide a fantastic opportunity for all of us to invite our family, friends and work colleagues to come to church – as I have said before, this is probably one of the easiest invites of the year! This year we are providing no fewer than seven opportunities to come to a carol service, as well as three site-based family carol services. Here is a reminder of dates, times and venues:
SUN 13 DEC
5.30pm Catford & Lee
SAT 19 DEC
5pm Catford
SUN 20 DEC
2.30pm Catford
5pm Catford & Downham
7.30pm Catford
And in the morning on SUN 20 DEC, we have family carol services at all sites at 10.30 am.
So, once again, let me encourage you to start inviting people – this could well be a chance for them to take a step closer to Jesus. Free tickets are available for you to pick up this Sunday at all sites. I look forward to seeing you then.
